Day 1

Huacarpay Wetlands - Acjanaco Puna - Wayqecha Cloud Forest

Dawn birding at Huacarpay lake for endemic Bearded Mountaineer and Rusty-fronted Canastero. Cross Acjanaco pass (3,800m) searching for Puna Thistletail, Scribble-tailed Canastero, and Scarlet-bellied Mountain-Tanager. Settle into Wayqecha biological station.

Day 2

Upper Cloud Forest - Quetzals, Tanagers & Hummingbirds

Full morning birding the upper montane forest for Hooded Mountain-Toucan, Grey-breasted Mountain-Toucan, Crested Quetzal, and mixed tanager flocks. Afternoon descent to Cock-of-the-Rock Lodge with hummingbird garden photography.

Day 3

San Pedro Lek - Solitary Eagle - Amazonian Umbrellabird

Early morning at the Andean Cock-of-the-rock lek. Birding the mid-elevation road for Solitary Eagle, Blue-banded Toucanet, Versicolored Barbet, and Amazonian Umbrellabird. Night birding for Rufescent Screech-Owl and Lyre-tailed Nightjar.

Day 4

Descent to Foothill Forest - Bamboo Guadua Specialists - Villa Carmen

Descend into foothill forest. Focus on bamboo (Guadua) thickets targeting Manu Antbird, White-cheeked Tody-Flycatcher, Bamboo Antshrike, Flammulated Pygmy-Tyrant, and Peruvian Recurvebill. Settle at Villa Carmen Biological Station.

Day 5

Lowland Floodplain - Terra Firme & Oxbow Lake Avifauna

Final Morning Birding - Ascent back to Cusco
