Detailed Itinerary

Day 1

Cusco - Cloud Forest of San Pedro - Pilcopata Eco-Lodge

Departing Cusco at dawn, our private transport ascends into the high Andes, visiting the archaeological chullpas of Ninamarca. Descending through the mystical cloud forest of San Pedro, we observe Peru’s national bird, the vibrant Andean Cock-of-the-rock in courtship display, alongside woolly monkeys and dazzling quetzals. Overnight at Pilcopata Eco-Lodge.

Day 2

Pilcopata - Atalaya Port - Manu River Deep Entry - Casa Matsiguenka

We transfer to Atalaya Port and board our motorized riverboat. Navigating down the Alto Madre de Dios River, we enter the official checkpoint of the Manu Reserved Zone at Limonal. Navigating upstream along the pristine Manu River, we spot capybaras, side-necked river turtles, and macaws. Arrive at Casa Matsiguenka bio-lodge.

Day 3

Cocha Salvador Oxbow Lake - Giant Otters - Cocha Otorongo Canopy Tower

Early morning catamaran navigation on legendary Cocha Salvador to observe the resident family of Giant River Otters fishing and playing. In the afternoon, explore Cocha Otorongo and climb a 30-meter observation tower overlooking the oxbow lake canopy. Nocturnal night walk for tree frogs, tarantulas, and glowing insects.

Day 4

Jaguar River Search - Macaw Clay Lick - Boca Manu Lodge

Dawn departure along the Manu River to scan sandbanks for the elusive Jaguar and tapir. Visit an active riverbank clay lick where hundreds of green parrots and parakeets feed on mineral-rich soils. Afternoon navigation towards Boca Manu Lodge with sunset photography over the water.

Day 5

Boca Manu - Alto Madre de Dios River - Rainforest Bio-Station

Day 6

Atalaya River Port - Cloud Forest Return - Arrival in Cusco

Early river cruise to Atalaya Port. Re-board our comfortable overland vehicle and ascend back through the breathtaking waterfalls of the Kosñipata cloud forest. Arrive in Cusco city in the early evening with drop-off at your hotel.
