Detailed Itinerary

Day 1

Cusco - Paucartambo - Cloud Forest Cock-of-the-Rock Lek

Early morning drive across the Andes visiting colonial Paucartambo. Enter Manu National Park entrance at Acjanaco and descend into lush cloud forest. Afternoon stop at the wooden observation platform to watch the vibrant Andean Cock-of-the-rock display. Overnight at Cloud Forest Lodge.

Day 2

Cloud Forest - Atalaya Port - Machuwasi Oxbow Lagoon

Morning birdwatching along the road observing tanagers and monkeys. Reach Atalaya port and board riverboat to our lowland lodge. Afternoon balsa-raft navigation on Machuwasi Lagoon to spot hoatzins, horned screamers, and capybaras. Night walk for nocturnal wildlife.

Day 3

Parrot Clay Lick - Matsigenka Native Community & Cacao Trails

Dawn river cruise to observe parrots and parakeets eating clay at the riverwall. Visit a local Matsigenka native community to learn about medicinal plants, traditional archery, and organic agroforestry. Evening trail walk to discover glowing fungi and tree frogs.

Day 4

River Navigation - Atalaya Port - Return to Cusco

After breakfast, navigate back to Atalaya Port and begin our return journey through the scenic Kosñipata valley with lunch on route. Arrive in Cusco by approximately 18:00.
